What is Muay Thai?

Muay Thai (also known as ‘Thai boxing’) is a stand-up combat sport that blends striking and clinch work using your fists, elbows, knees and shins, earning it the title ‘The Art of Eight Limbs’. Our classes focus on developing:

  • Powerful and efficient punching and kicking techniques
  • Elbow and knee strikes for close-range control
  • Balance, timing and footwork
  • Clinch control and positioning
  • Discipline, focus and resilience

Because it engages your entire body, Muay Thai builds exceptional cardiovascular fitness, strength, coordination and flexibility, alongside practical self-defence skills.

Do students spar in your Muay Thai classes?

Muay Thai training at Memento Mori includes a mix of technical instruction, padwork, controlled partner drills and optional sparring, all delivered in a safe, structured way. Sparring and live training help you:

  • Apply techniques under realistic conditions
  • Improve timing, confidence and composure under pressure
  • Build mental toughness and discipline
  • Progress at a pace that suits your goals and experience level

Our coaches teach technique, control and respect, ensuring a positive training environment for all levels. Your progression is based on consistent attendance, technical improvement and attitude – never ego or aggression.
